Horses and romance
I enjoy reading this book, Maggie and Chris has a lot of things throw their way, I enjoy the way things was handle with each problem that came about. The only part that did care for was the short way the subject of Covey finding his father and the way it was handle could have been save for another book or a full chapter since it was something that kept coming up as you read their stoeie

Good read
I suggest this book to anyone who read and enjoyed the other Vor novels. I hate it when people tell me the story and/or give away plot information, so I won't. Read it.

Research in Medicine: Planning A Project - Writing A Thesis
Published in Paperback by Cambridge University Press (15 July, 1999)
Authors: George Murrell, Christopher Huang, and Harold Ellis
Average review score:

A common-sense, practical guide to research.
Anyone contemplating research in medicine for the first time would be likely to find this book very useful. It is a common-sense, practical guide to the entire research process, from the beginning of thinking about doing some research to your job prospects once you have finished and published. Much of the book is in the form of check-lists which makes reading quick and easy. Although the book is specifically aimed at medical doctors (it contains much detail of medical degree structures and when it is best to fit research into your career), it would also be useful for those considering para-medical careers in research. Degree structures from different countries are compared, and useful advice is given on how much research needs to be done to qualify for a Masters versus a PhD.

Many may feel that the last thing they need when starting a programme of research or a graduate research degree is another book to read. Accordingly this book is short, to the point, has cartoons, and warns of most of the pitfalls that the novice researcher may fall into.

Soldier of 'Tween
Published in Digital by Renaissance eBooks ()
Author: A. C. Ellis
Average review score:

Who controls reality?
When mankind discovered 'Tween (a state of existence equidistant from all times and places in the continuum) it opened new opportunities for exploration - and conquest. Soldier of 'Tween is the story of Five-Red, a battle unit of the Confraternity of Sentient Races. It is the story of the fall of an empire and the formation of a new way of life. In the end, though, there are but two questions: Who exactly is Five-Red, and who - or what - controls the Confraternity?

Soldier of 'Tween is filled with fascinating aliens and cultures. It delves into the nature of reality as Five-Red slowly uncovers the secrets of 'Tween. The only annoyance is that Five-Red's future and his importance are clearly shown way before the end of the volume, and instead of slowly and gracefully being led into discovering his destiny Five-Red is thrust into his role by other characters. (Though some readers may well enjoy such a technique.) Soldier of 'Tween is a quite enjoyable book reminiscent of old-time science fiction novels both in plot and writing style.

Sonnets to Madness and Other Misfortunes: Sonetos a LA Locura Y Otras Penas
Published in Paperback by Creative Arts Book Co (May, 2001)
Authors: Francisco X. Alarcon and Donald S. Ellis
Average review score:

A bilingual collection from a language-conscious poet
"Sonnets to Madness and Other Misfortunes" is a collection of poetry by Francisco X. Alarcon. The poems are in Spanish; the book is presented in bilingual format, with English translations by Francisco Aragon. Most of the poems in the book are assigned Roman numerals instead of titles.

The book as a whole has a sad, thoughtful tone, but I found it ultimately hopeful. A number of poems are about loneliness and the desire for love. Consider the quote, "could it be I'm the last person / on the face of the earth?" (XXII). Some poems have a political edge; in one he asks "how much for Central American coffee / that hums with bullet-ridden blood?" (XX).

I found the strongest poems in the collection to be a trio that deal with words and language. In one of these three Alarcon writes that "beneath this language there's another, / more ancient, agile, elusive" (XVI). He seems to be pointing towards an ur-language that transcends language. Overall, a solid collection by an important Latino poet of the United States.

The Spirit of Golf

Authors: Ray G. Ellis, Wright Ben, Ben Wright, and Herbert Warren Wind
Average review score:

Exquisite Stylistic Golf Book
Worth finding just for the illustrations! I obtained my copy and purchased more for presents at a real discount!

Even if you have to pay a little, this book is worth it! Magnificent, unique illustrations by world renown impressionist Ray Ellis! I love his shot of the "Practice Area at Augusta." His watercolors of renown courses and other golf sketches are just fantastic! You won't see much like them elsewhere and some are available to purchase, at some galleries and from his website.

Added to this great art is commentary by Ben Wright and a great Intro written by that dean of golf writers, Herbert Warren Wind.

Great addition to golf afficiando!
